Protecting water supplies for customers in
south east Wales

Date: 14/07/2010 - 09:00:00

Last modified: 14/07/2010 10:00:23

We are taking some early measures to protect water supplies for our customers, since we are predicted a long, warm and dry summer this year.

We are going to:

  • switch water supplies for those customers usually supplied by Talybont Reservoir to Llandegfedd Reservoir, near Pontypool
  • carry out essential maintenance work on our Taff Trunk Water Main system

Water supplies in the areas listed below will be affected by these changes:

Work will be starting soon. If you do experience temporary discolouration of your tap water, please run a cold tap (usually your kitchen tap) until the water clears. We will do all we can to prevent this happening, though.

We are unlikely to have to ask to come into your property to do this work, but if someone does call make sure they have their Welsh Water ID – and you can verify it by calling our 24/7 Bogus Caller Helpline on 0800 281 141.

We apologise for any temporary inconvenience this work may cause, and assure you that it is important we do this work to safeguard your water supplies for the months ahead.

Essential Operational Work - Treorchy, Pentre,
Ton Pentre, Gelli, Ystrad and Llwynypia.

Date: 07/06/2010 - 09:00:00

Welsh Water will undertake some essential work on our water system which will affect supplies to properties in Treorchy, Pentre, Ton Pentre, Gelli, Ystrad and Llwynypia. Customers affected by the essential work will have received a letter.

This work will start week commencing 7 June 2010 and at times which should minimise the impact on customers. However, during this period you may experience a temporary loss of supply, low water pressure or some discolouration.

Loss of supply – There is no need for you to do anything, as this will only be for a very short period.

Discoloured water – run your supply for 20 minutes (or until clear). If you have a metered supply this will only cost approximately 80p. If you wish to claim for this loss please contact us on the number below.

Low water pressure – check that your internal stop tap is fully open as this can contribute to the problem. Again there is no need to contact us as your pressure will return to normal after a short period of time.

We apologies for any inconvenience and should you have any concerns or wish to discuss the matter further please contact us on free phone number 0800 052 0130
