Why did I join Welsh Water…

I wanted to find an occupation in which my scientific skills would have the most beneficial impact. I relate to the core values of Welsh Water, including the importance placed on environment protection and customer satisfaction. I felt that the company’s graduate scheme would offer a good opportunity for experience and professional development.

My main area of business is…

The flexibility of the graduate scheme means that I have been fortunate to experience many different areas of the business. These include working in the Asset Strategy Department and helping contribute to the company’s Business Plan for Ofwat, and overseeing the multimillion pound investment programme in north Wales with the Water Quality Team.

My future with Welsh Water…

My short term goal is to use the scheme to the fullest, to experience and develop many different skills to help build a successful career within Welsh Water. After five years, I would like to see myself as managing a small team or projects, and being trusted with the responsibility to help deliver key business objectives.

The best part of my job is…

Experiencing many different areas of the business and also working with likeminded people. The graduate scheme has given me the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the Welsh landscape while working. Through site visits all over Wales, I have been privileged to see areas of outstanding beauty, including the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia National Parks.
